Service Request upgraded to HazMat Response upon arrival

Engine 52 was requested by a trucking company for a "washdown" of an area on their property. This is not a normal operation for Engine Companies here. Upon our arrival, we found a large diesel spill that was draining into a creek. It appeared to be 100 to 200 gallons of fuel.

Below are a few pics of members from HazMat 11 constructing an "inverted dam" in an effort to minimize the spread of the diesel fuel that was spilled upstream.

HazMat 11, Engine 52, Engine 49 and Chief 3 responded along with Greensboro Sewer and Water.

We were released prior to HazMat completing the dam, so unfortunately I don't have any pics of the finished product...
