ARFF Drill w/ PTIA FD

Paddy and I were lucky enough to tag along for an airport drill last day. I have had no experience in aircraft rescue or fire fighting and I understand that Paddy's is limited. So it was a good chance for us to knock out a drill and get some new bits of knowledge for the ol' toolbox.

Rescue 5 stabalized the aircraft (MD88) with cribbing and low pressure air bags. Engine companies were tasked with making entry into the aircraft via emergency exits for fire attack using Greensboro's "apartment lay", which consists of 200' of 2 1/2" wyed into 150' of 1 3/4". Ladder companies were tasked with "making doors" or new emergency exits, this was done utilizing the aerial platform, a K12 and a NY Hook.

Companies involved were Engines 17, 18, 19 & 20, Ladder 19, Rescue 5 and PTIA Fire Units (Station 100). All Greensboro companies, excluding R5, are from Battalion 3, and are tasked with coordinating ARFF operations with PTIA.

More pictures of us actually working will be added as I receive them.
