GFD to purchase 10 Thermal Imaging Cameras (TICs)

Chief Grayson announced that Greensboro just received a substantial grant allowing the department to purchase 10 more TICs. This purchase will put more RIT Bags in service allowing for better quality service. With proper training, handling and acceptance, these tools will allow more companies to operate with additional safety and efficiency.

Of course, TICs are best known for use on the fire ground (attack, overhaul, ventilation, etc.) but they are not limited to fire scenarios alone. In the right hands, they're capable of enhancing our abilitiy to mitigate Search and Rescue and HazMat incidents, as well.
